Jillian DeCoursey started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2008 and Mixed Martial Arts in 2014. Before discovering Jiu Jitsu, Jillian was an accomplished athlete. She excelled in sports such as Basketball and Volleyball. In her junior and senior years of high school Jillian lead as the Captain of her basketball and volleyball teams, twice being voted MVP for each sport. Jillian went on to play Basketball at the University of Bridgeport. The University granted Jillian a 50/50 scholarship for both athletics and academics. After two years she transferred to Hunter College and graduated with a B.A. in Psychology. Jillian went on to study Mental Health Counseling at Iona College and graduated with a Masters Degree. She currently works as a Therapist in private practice where she assists children and teens with behavioral problems as well as adults with a variety of mental health concerns. Jillian began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts under Professor Rob Gutierrez. Jiu Jitsu and MMA have become more than just another sport to conquer. For Jillian, it has become a way of life. It is her hard working no quit attitude that makes her a true asset and valued member of ECU Queens. Jillian is currently a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Professional MMA fighter signed by Invicta FC. Jillian is currently the number 1 ranked pound for pound Female MMA fighter in New York and 5th ranked pound for pound female fighter in the Northeast.
